Last weekend I was at a Kripalu workshop called “Finding Your Soul’s Purpose and Living the Life Your Soul Intended”.
The premise of the workshop is that we all have lived many times before, and that our talents, hang-ups, personalities, and quirks are all related to our past lives, and were all chosen by us to facilitate our spiritual development.
(If this premise offends you, please feel free to stop reading. It is not part of my purpose to offend, but this is something I personally believe. You are always free to accept or reject anything I say depending on whether it resonates with you or not.)
Your life purpose is not meant to be hidden or difficult to understand.
It’s encapsulated in your deepest values, in the ones that most motivate you and/or make you feel deeply.
Mostly, your life purpose is not reducible to a specific career.
It is expressed in how you treat yourself, how you treat others, and what activities you’re interested in pursuing most, whether or not they are part of your job.
My life purpose is to express my talents creatively in spiritual service to humanity and the planet. (It may be more specific than that, but it-like my life-is a work-in-progress 🙂
That may seem general, but has been expressed in specific ways through teaching, acting, writing, counseling, coaching, dancing, gardening, activism and politics.
If you have an interest in finding your soul type and getting some clues to your life purpose, I recommend checking out my presenter’s website: http://ainsliemacleod.com/soul-type-quiz/
(I get no kickback from my recommendation, but it is something you may find valuable.)
May we pursue our paths, choosing our path according to our soul’s plan, and realizing that all paths eventually lead back to spirit,
